On June 8-10, 2022, Tallinn (Estonia) hosted the ELIA Leadership Symposium, a leadership symposium of a global European network that provides a dynamic platform for professional exchange and development in the field of higher education in the arts. This year’s event was hosted by the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.

The ELIA Leadership Symposium was attended by Acting Rector Inna Kocharyan, Associate Professor, Doctor of Economics, and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Oleh Kratt, Professor, Doctor of Economics.

On the first day of the Symposium, Inna Kocharyan made a report on the current situation in Ukraine, in particular, on the work of the I. K. Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University Theatre, Cinema and Television in the context of the war: “Our main strength and most effective weapon is unity! Europe and the entire civilized world stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainians every day and constantly help us with real actions. Among them are artists and scientists.

We are honored to be invited to the ELIA Leadership Symposium, as it is an opportunity to convey the realities of today’s Ukraine. We are amazed by the support we have seen and felt here, among our colleagues, among artists and scientists. With such partners, you feel that Ukraine is not alone!”

The ELIA Leadership Symposium gathers leaders from higher education institutions of art and universities in Europe and around the world for timely exchange and discussion on how economic, social, cultural and political changes affect various aspects of their duties and responsibilities as local education leaders.
